Jannat Mai a 40 year old lady lives in a village of Dist Muzafargarh Tehsil Alipur. She is very hardworking lady and is running a shop now a days. She has 3 kids below the age of 16 and her husband is physically weak enough that he cannot Work .She has faced many hardships in her life but always tried to run the house by contributing financially. After the flood she lost her shop and everything ruined. It was a tragedy for her family. She has no source of income except the shop and after its loss it became very hard to meet the needs of her family. AWAZ team visited the said village and registered beneficiaries for cash grant. Luckily she got her name registered and received a grant of 20,000.She re-established her shop and now easily meeting all the needs of her family .She feels very happy on receiving her source of income back. In the same realm Community restoration project focused the community restoration by plugging in 15 different on farm and off farm physical infrastructure schemes, which are proved of great advantage to the community. 07 Water Solar Pumps have been installed for irrigational purpose and Cash Grants @Rs.20, 000 each among 81 beneficiaries were disbursed.
Shelters for rebuilding life
For reducing the sufferings of flood affected communities of targeted villages AWAZ is running a shelter project in order to provide them a shelter / house. During the reporting period 350 shelters were constructed in Tehsil Kot Addu and 850 shelters in Tehsil Ali Pur. Whereas, in different villages of Tehsil Alipur and Tehsil Kot Addu seven hundred fifty latrines were also constructed to improve hygiene conditions of people. During the same reporting period 230 Communal hand Pumps were installed in Tehsil Ali Pur & Tehsil Kot Addu.

al 38(Thirty Eight) Community physical Infrastructure CPI schemes have been completed. South Punjab livelihood and security program focuses mainly on food security, livestock including poultry development and irrigation water management. During the reporting period kitchen gardening seed package was distributed among 1200 women headed Households and conditional Cash Grants among 322 beneficiaries has been made (1st Installment of 60 %)

Working for our better life
Continuous follow up and urge to bring change in one’s condition brings success and satisfaction. If Community itself put efforts then external factors can be overcome or they become favorable. The story of one village in Punjab depicts the same .Tehsil Ahmed Pur East is located in the province of Punjab, Saraiki and Punjabi are the local languages, while Urdu and English are official languages in various educational and government institutions. The total population of Tehsil Ahmad Pur East is approximately one million with 21 union councils.

Community Mobilization activities
During the reporting period 60 community organizations (31 Male, 29 Female) formed at the hamlet level in new targeted Union Council. 1500 community activists (850 Male, 650 Female) obtained membership of formed community organizations. Members Development plans are formed to bring need based improvements in the community. In this context 18 development plans have been prepared in consultation with community organizations.
Week celebrated for international day for the elimination of violence against women.
Three events were organized on international day for the elimination of violence against women in order to raise the awareness and understanding of issues due to violence against women. One poster competition was organized on Violence against women at Department of Gender Studies BZU, Multan. Along with this one Peaceful demonstration on Violence against women was organized at Press Club, Multan followed by a Public dialogue on Women Protection Bill at Women Crises Centre.
Similarly Public dialogues on Violence against women were organized in 6 field offices. Total 70-100 females participated in each event. The major discussion points were the increasing ratio of violence on women in southern Punjab and awareness rising on legal rights of women.
Celebration of International Student’s days
On November 17, 2011 International Student’s day was celebrated and almost 100 Male and female participants attended this day long seminar. Throughout the day different activities and discussions were carried out around education, duties and responsibilities of teachers, students and parents etc

Volunteer Management System Training organized by VSO
Ms Sadia Saeed Advocacy and Campaigning Officer in Islamabad Office facilitated VMS training on 12-15 October, 2011.
Active Citizens’ Training
During the reporting period AWAZ training unit has organized 4 trainings sessions , each training comprised of 4 days and was held in Education Department and BZU Multan. Training sessions
focused mainly on developing the skills of our active youth in leadership, communication, advocacy, citizenship, proposal writing, social action project delivery, fund-raising, entrepreneurship, partnership and network building
such trainings are helpful in enhancing the concept of activism and volunteerism among the youth.
